Coastal Palm Strip for Seawater
Pakistan has a 1000 mile coast line that does not yield any commercial value at this time..
Coconut Palm can be planted easily in costal and salty areas and it yields Coconut Palm, syrup, plus leaves for chatai and stuff. Coconut Palm can also be used to make palm oil and it can be used to make a lot of sweet products. The project is to use Google Earth to identify areas for Palm Planting and come up with feasibility plans for date reforestation and coconut palm based industries near date areas..
This may create employment for people near the Sind and Baluchistan coastline. Each square mile of data tree planting will take 4 lacs only., but the crops can support 2000 families or 120,000 persons. So if 100 miles of desert are converted the results will be immense..
This can create revenue generating industries near the coast line where there are no opportunities and also start reforestation of unused land. If palm trees are planted at a distance of 25 feet, there will be 40,000 tress in a square mile. With about 100 kg per month @ Rs 40 each mile can yield 16 crore per sq mile which can grow to 20 crore with other byproducts. It can also become a nice tourist area and generate tourist revenue as well as become a shield against tropical storms for the coastal areas. If they are planted next to a costal highway then the income potential is tremendous along with beautification of the coastline with food spots, hotels and lodges close to the beaches for huge income generation..
